On October 22, the “Shared Future: New Opportunities for China-Arab Economic Development” forum, jointly organized by Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management and the American University of Sharjah, was successfully held in Sharjah. Over 300 representatives from the Chinese and Arab political, business, and academic sectors attended the forum, including Consul General Ou Boqian, Rem Baghash, Deputy Director of the World Government Summit Office of the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, Todd Larson, President of the American University of Sharjah, and Liu Qiao, Dean of Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management.
Consul General Ou Boqian stated that China has long been the largest trading partner of the Arab countries, with bilateral trade reaching USD 400 billion in 2024—a more than tenfold increase over the past 20 years. China-Arab cooperation has expanded from traditional trade to emerging areas such as smart manufacturing and digital finance, with investment cooperation strengthening in both directions. In the face of the global technological revolution and industrial transformation, both sides should enhance collaboration in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and other sectors.
The forum focused on China’s economic growth and opportunities for China-Arab cooperation, with in-depth discussions on practical collaboration paths in technology innovation and talent cultivation.
